2014 Episode 13 – Lysistrata

Episode thirteen, and I’m talking to (most) of the cast of Lysistrata – an adaptation of the original play by Christopher Adams. We had a really interesting chat, especially since all the cast members I spoke to had different levels of experience at the Fringe prior to this year. We talked about how, as an artist, you can get inspired during the Fringe, and how seeing other people’s work makes you raise your game.

Episode 13 – Featuring Jess Abrams

Hello listeners,

In this episode I got to sit down over a coffee with a lovely person – Jess Abrams, who this year is doing a show at the Jazz Bar called Cat Stevens Reconstructed. We had a really interesting chat – we talked a bit about reviewers and what reviews can mean, but spent a lot of time talking about the importance of having a good and supportive audience. We also talked about how hard it can be to re-imagine something that people love, and make sure that you are still honouring the original work.

Her show is on at 19:00 at the Jazz Bar the 19th and 20th of August (Monday/Tuesday.) You can get tickets here:

Yesterday I had the pleasure of sitting down with Aidan and Daniel, the two musicians who make Tubular Bells for Two happen! They play the whole of Mike Oldfield’s album Tubular Bells using only the two of them and 26 instruments! We sat down in the Abbatoir bar (the VIP area of the Udderbelly – very fancy,) and chatting about a wide range of things, including the nature of making mistakes in performance, how to let things grow organically, and the feeling of a festival. To listen, please click on the link to the right. They are on every day (not the 19th) at 17:45 at the Udderbelly Cowbarn. If you want to see the show, you can get tickets here:
