2015 Episode 1

Hi all!

Welcome back to Hanging at the Fringe for 2015. I’m happy to report that we are now an officially accredited media outlet, which is a huge step!

This year, we’re doing things a bit differently. I am gathering groups of people together to have a longer discussion about the Fringe, and then of course talk a bit about their shows. This first episode is all local performers – we talk a bit about what it’s like to be a local during the Fringe, but a bunch of other things too!

As is becoming tradition, we had a technical hiccup on the first podcast of the year. This time, it was a low battery problem, so we miss a bit of Calum’s introduction, but not to worry, all his information is below, along with everyone else’s!

David Grimes (@tiggrzz) was representing EGTG (@TheGrads) who are doing two shows this year: The Witch of Edmonton and Death and The Maiden. You can find more information about the company at www.egtg.co.uk, or find them on Facebook at The Grads.

Lindsay Corr (@irishcoi) was representing the Scottish Storytelling Centre (@ScotStoryScntre) who have lots of shows on at the Fringe! You can find info about all of their various events here.

Calum Lykan (@talesntours) is doing a show called Brave & Free: Traditional Tales of Scotland. Check it out if you want a taste of some traditional stories.

Emily Aboud was representing EUSOG (@EUSOG) who are doing Little Shop of Horrors this year – family friendly (kinda) with a cool plant! You can find more info about the show at www.littleshopofhorrorfringe.com.

Lastly, Catherine Wilson (@CJMacBeathW) and Doug Garry (@BeardedPipe) were representing the Loud Poets (@LOUDPOETS) who are doing a show called Loud Poets (surprise!) every night at the Storytelling Centre.

Episode 21! I’m back in C Too, this time chatting to Francesca Goodridge (Director), Sarah Folwell (Actor) and Max Unsworth (Producer) from Shout! The Mod Musical. We talked about what it’s like to adapt a show at the Fringe, and how to see some of non-Fringe Scotland.

If you’re on twitter, give the company a follow @shoutmodmusical. You can also follow Francesca (@francescajadeg), Sarah(@sarah_filwell) and Max (@maxemmerson) individually! Of course, you can also get your tickets here.

2014 Episode 12 – Jack and I

Episode twelve, and I’ve ventured to C Nova to talk to to two wonderful guys about their show Jack and I: The Jack the Ripper Musical. This follows on from their show last year, and we discussed why it’s important to be a bit silly, and the importance of having fun at the Fringe. They have also, for the record, been nominated for some awards (including the Derek Award for Best Fringe Show!) – so see them before they are celebs!

If you’re on twitter, give the writer a follow @danielhkaes and follow the company @dhkproductions.

Of course, you should also check out the show. You can get all the relevant information and tickets here – go check it out!

2014 Episode 2 – EUSOG Presents Avenue Q

Episode two brings some insight into doing a well known show at the Fringe. I chatted with some cast members, as well as the director of Avenue Q at the Fringe this year about their experience at the Fringe, and what it’s like to work with puppets!
